WHERE: Arnavutköy

It's not often you can use the the word “village” when describing parts of a city with a population of 14 million people, but that's just what you get with Arnavutköy. If you manage to negotiate the traffic around Taksim and head up the coast (on the European side) you’ll likely make you way to / through Arnavutköy. This was our base for a better part of the first 2 years of our time in Turkey, so granted we might be biased but it is a really unique part of the city nonetheless. Literally translating to “Albanian Village” it's known for its classic Ottoman era wooden house architecture, quaint back streets, abundance of fish restaurants and more recently contemporary bars...

WHERE: Nişantaşı

It's only natural that when you move to another country you also miss some things you left behind. I mean leaving the beach on our doorstep behind is too obvious.  Then it hit us - coffee! Australians have been successfully exporting the "flat white" to all corners over the last few years and despite Turkey having a great Turkish coffee culture (watch out for the last mouthful!) there really isn't many options aside from Starbucks. Word got back to us to check out Ministry of Coffee in Nişantaşı, run by Australian Sam Cevikoz. AMAZING. Our caffeine fix was sorted right there and then. Best thing is that afterwards you can wander the back streets and lane ways for some of the best boutique...

What a difference a year makes...

I guess that's an understatement for us. We left Bondi behind (for now) and relocated to Istanbul. It's something we always wanted to do, family always pulls you back... So with the house packed up and the twins in tow we started our new family adventure. I know I know we're only coming up for air now but it's been and amazing journey so far. New sounds, tastes, smells and some familiar ones too. As for kalite.com.au well we have an amazing team back in Sydney helping to keep things moving, and we're building new relationships here all the time, so business as usual really. We'd really like to have you along for the journey so please... drop by again....
